Hundreds of nurses held a rally at Karunamoyee in Salt Lake, seeking safety at the workplace.
In the ongoing case of the rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, the State government has summoned junior doctors for a meeting at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence in Kalighat. The meeting, scheduled for 5pm, was communicated to the junior doctors via email by Chief Secretary Manoj Panth.
Simultaneously, the city witnessed rallies and demonstrations on Sunday, with retired Army officers marching from Jadavpur 8B Bus Stand to Golpark in south Kolkata and former students of Calcutta Girls’ High School holding a rally in Wellington.
Additionally, hundreds of nurses rallied at Karunamoyee in Salt Lake, highlighting the demand for workplace safety.
Recent developments in the case include the CBI obtaining custody of RG Kar ex-Principal Sandip Ghosh and Inspector Abhijit Mondol of Tala Police Station until September 17 after they were produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Sealdah.
The CBI has affirmed that both individuals have played crucial roles in the RG Kar case, and they will be questioned together during this period of custody.
